“Deyjon” Bucket Bag

BUCKET BAG | SHOULDER BAG | SLOUCHY BAG

There are many types of bags. The bucket bag is one of my favorite types. The bucket bag trend is always alive and thriving. Bucket bags will carry all the essentials with the toss-it-in ease of a tote but in a more tidy, chic package. That’s why I love this kind of bag. But the bucket bag doesnโ€™t necessarily look like buckets. The flat bottom can be round/oval or square. Typically have a top drawstring closure, but the most important is how easy and secure when you access your bagโ€™s contents.

Deyjon Bucket Bag

If you would like to make this kind of bag, you can search for the pattern and start to make it. This time I would like to share there is a bucket bag pattern from Country Cow Designs, that called “Deyjon” Bucket Bag.

Deyjon Bucket Bag

I made the “Deyjon” Bucket Bag and I love it! I am sure for you all who loves bucket bag type also will love it! The pattern you can find here (just click):

Back side of “Deyjon” Bucket Bag
Back side of “Deyjon” Bucket Bag

The “Deyjon” is a great sized bucket bag. It holds loads of stuff inside but it doesn’t feel like you’re carrying the world with you. It features two exterior zip pockets which are ideal for holding your keys, phone, or sunglasses. The interior has a zipper pocket and slips pocket.

The pattern provides two options for the top closure. You can choose between a draw-string and a recessed zipper panel. They look so different that it’s almost like getting two patterns in one! The pattern is ideal for canvas, cork, vinyl, or leather. You can even make it using cotton but I’d recommend adding some fleece for stability.

Finished size: 12 1/2″ tall x 10″ wide x 5 1/2″ deep.

The pattern is suitable for ambitious beginners. It includes a full video tutorial as well as a 20-page step by step photo guide and a printable pattern for all pattern pieces in both A4 and “letter” paper sizes.

There is no binding used in this pattern and the lining is birthed and then sewn up through a pocket to give a neat lining.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

  • Exterior fabric: 1 yard (35″ width)
  • Lining fabric: 1 yard (44″ width)
  • Medium woven interfacing (SF101/G700): 1 yard (35″ width)
  • Firm Stabiliser (Peltex 71F/Vilene S520): 6 1/2″ x 12″
  • 2 x 10″ no.5 zips for exterior pockets
  • 1 x 10″ no.3 zip for interior pocket
  • 12 x 10mm grommets (required for the draw-string version)
  • 1 x 14″ no.5 zip (required for the zip closure version).

“My Deyjon” was done in Art Gallery Fabric Tropical Bronze and faux leather for the exterior and high-quality cotton for the interior.

I bought the art gallery fabric Tropical Bronze here @bytheyard.

Pencil FPP Spy Pouch

Never stop your creativity!

Oh yeahh…

Despite countless failures and mistakes, I’ll always try to do my best!

Pencil FPP Spy Pouch

I was trying to make a pencil pouch with a foundation paper piecing panel to put in the front exterior part. I decided to make a pencil FPP and chose the pouch pattern. Start with making a draft then make a pencil FPP pattern.

Draft by Chera Phipody
Draft by Chera Phipody

This time I chose the I-Spy pouch (small size) pattern by Sew Sweetness. I just used my FPP panel instead of the clear vinyl.

Talk about the I-Spy pouch pattern by Sew Sweetness, this pattern actually part of minikins part one. The I-Spy Pouch comes in 3 different sizes and features clear vinyl and a zipper in the front, which allows for easy visual organization! This project comes together quickly, especially with the companion video that is available. The PDF pattern contains full-color step photos and the video is 25 minutes long. Just go here to see the details.

I made this I-Spy pouch version in cork and FPP panel. It turned out beautiful, I really love it. About the FPP itself was quite challenging because I have to do it precisely, need more practice for sure. It will not have any issue for the one who already an expert in FPP, but not for me yet.

I also made a fancy key fob strap on it. To make it easy to carry the pouch. I really love that key fob, even without the pouch.

Here it is:
Pencil FPP pouch in cork
This flat pouch can be used for pretty much anything. Itโ€™s perfect for school supplies, pencils, toiletries, art supplies, make-up, or even small electronics.
This pouch is made up of cotton and cork material with interfacing, flat corners, and a beautiful zipper in the front. Other than that, it also features with key fob strap, to make it easy to carry.

Note:
The cork, key fob ring, and interfacings I bought @Sing Mui Heng.

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace, and blessings be upon him, said, โ€œAllah Almighty said: O son of Adam, busy yourself with my worship and I will fill your heart with riches and alleviate your poverty. If you do not do so, I will fill your hands with problems and never alleviate your poverty.โ€

Filigree Double Zip Pouch

Filigree Double Zip Pouch in a Quarter Circle of Flying Geese Paper Pieced

Hi ..

I am so excited to share what I have made lately. Yes, I made a pouch with a paper piecing panel. It was inspired by so many scraps that I have ๐Ÿ˜‰ So, I want to use it to make it something beautiful. Yes, sometimes I just go and do for whatever that comes in my mind. I was thinking about paper piecing and a pouch. That’s why I made it.

I chose flying geese paper piecing to show in the main panel of my pouch. Chose foundation paper piecing is not easy for me, I have to allocate more time to do it because I am not a pro ๐Ÿ˜‰ But I did it, I am so happy with the result.

For the pouch, I chose Filigree Double Zip pouch, pattern by Sew Sweetness. Just change the clear vinyl with a paper pieced panel. But I need to get the right size of the panel, so I drafted it first.

Start with paper, ruler, pencil and scraps
Draft it according to the size
Thinking about the color combination
Bring it on to the laptop ๐Ÿ˜‰
Voila`, I made it!

Based on that draft, I made the paper piecing panel and then made the pouch.

This pouch can be used for pretty much anything. Itโ€™s perfect for school supplies, pencils, toiletries, art supplies, makeup, or even small electronics. Surely this pouch is a multitasking accessory that will keep you organized in style! The most special thing about these zipper pouches is that there are two top zippers, with two separate compartments for storage.

This pouch is made up with artistic main panel, flying geese paper pieced, and quilted with rainbow thread. All done in high quality cotton. This also fully interfaced with woven interfacing and fleece in between which allows it to hold its shape.

I love the final result, the color combination, and the pouch itself it’s so me ๐Ÿ˜‰ I love that color combination.

Have a nice day all!

BlueCalla Pattern just released a NEW gorgeous pattern, The Celosia Cross Body Bag. The Celosia is a medium-sized crossbody bag with a rectangular boxy shape and a gusset. It has one front unique shape exterior zippered pocket with a curved opening. The front exterior pocket is perfect for showing off a small panel that catching the eyes. I don’t have any special panel that fits on the exterior pocket, so for my Celosia, I made colorful stripes patchwork.

The Celosia in the park with my daughter ๐Ÿ™‚

The main closure is zippered as well and can be done with a single pull or a double-pull zipper. On the inside of the bag, there is one zippered pocket and 2 slip pockets. This bag does not have a drop-in lining or a binding finish. It is turned through the zipper pocket.

I used double-pull zipper
That double-pull zipper perfectly matches with the bag.

Batik Series | Face Mask-Petal Pouch

Batik is beautiful. Yes, it is and I love it.

I’ve got inspiration from many people in social media that use batik to make face masks (yes, it booming everywhere because of this pandemic). Come along with this inspiration, I tried to find batik that best to work with. I found Singapore Batik Arts, then I bought some batiks that made of 100% cotton. Easy to work with, nice color, and the design is so beautiful.

With this batik, I made some face masks and a small pouch to match. Oh yeah, I love this combo. As I said before, a perfect match for a gift or just for personal use.

For this Batik, I bought somewhere else, which is forgot where did I buy this batik :d

How are you today?

I hope everybody doing great, safe and healthy. InsyaAlloh, Aamiin. So many things going on this year that different than last year. Two things in common are working from home and home based learning/e-learning. Having outdoor activities now is limited. It’s time to be more grateful have enjoyed spending lots of time with our family. I hope everything will back to normal again or even better than before, insyaAlloh.

Talking about mask. Yes we have to wear mask when we go outside of the house. So, mask is very important now. We can buy or make it buy our self. Many people are so creative. Many ideas come along with the mask. Example, creating face mask to match your dress, bag, hijab, or anything that makes sense to match with mask ๐Ÿ˜‰

So, this time the idea that came in my mind after I made masks, I chose to make small pouch that match with the mask. Why? Because some fabric just have a little left, and I have some short length zippers in many colors that I have to use it ๐Ÿ˜‰ And also something that gift-able, teacher’s day is coming, so this one is an idea too ๐Ÿ˜‰ I choose small Petal Pouch to match with the face mask that I make. It’s turn out beautiful, I love it.

This cute small curvy zippered pouch, small Petal Pouch works great for coins, cash, sewing notions, simple makeup,  or whatever else you can fit inside! Throw in your everyday use purse or backpack when you go around. Also it can be your face mask pouch if you want to ๐Ÿ˜‰
